Here's the finished piece from my current Story--also in the In Progress highlights. Considering the time I started and finished, I would say this bookmark took about 3 to maybe 3.5 hours to complete, although it really didn't seem that long. (I listened to a whole lot of @thebandghost as I worked, as my stories reflect--I can't wait for the Resch show in October!!) I find I like this style a bit so I may keep doing it. I guess we shall see!
I had so much fun with experimenting with this style which I have previously encountered on the lovely & oh-so talented @cactuscloudsart’s IG account, that I’m back at it today! The first photo is the finished product, but I loved the initial phase so much, I almost didn’t continue with my plan, so I decided to take some photos instead. I wonder which do you like better? 🙌🙌🙌@cansonpaper_northamerica sent me some samples of their watercolor papers to try out and enter for a chance to win a block set!! Whoot! Whoot! 🤞🤞🤞
This is my first entry for the contest. I used their 300lb rough grain Heritage series, #alohawatercolors (Mars, Hula Princess & Moana) and micron pens for the outline. I think the rough texture really suited this looser style, but the paper was still fine enough for some finer ink lines. I love how the thick paper didn’t buckle or bend despite repeated applications of color & water. I find it interesting that my “style” seems to naturally change with my choice of mediums or even just trying to paint on a different paper. Lots of experimenting to do!! 🤗🤗🤗 #alohawatercolors#cansonwatercolorpaper #micronpens
Finally finished this piece!!! Swipe for details!! Lately I've been finding myself testing out a variety of styles and types of work. I got comfortable in this type of work and want to improve. So a lot of my work right now is studies and practice. Would you all be interested in pieces like that? I do miss my comic book esc kind of style and I'm thinking I'm going to be getting into character design in that way. Wish me luck on this journey!!
As you can probably tell, I took the summer off from this art account (which is because I haven’t really done any art to post). But I’m finally back at it, so here’s a quick watercolor I did today inspired by the beautiful sunset last night.
My entry for @monlii__’s #dtiys! Congrats on 1.5 k!!! Your art is adorable, you deserve it! 💕⭐️💕#monlii_dtiys2
