I've been sitting on this project for a while, due to the immense task at hand of putting it together. .
This one is different from the last one I posted. How so? Well, for one it is TWENTY images stitched together. Yes, twenty.
This was my first attempt at trying to do a panoramic image using a 70-200mm lens. And let me tell you, it sucks. haha! I had all sorts of problems, from the tracker not tracking, to accidentally bumping focus, and loosing the spot where I left off. that being said, it's not perfect. There's a ton of flaws in this, as the computer has problems stitching things when you don't get perfect alignments between frames. It still does an "ok" job - but could be way better.
What I like about this version is that the entire dark horse portion of the milky way is in here, whereas in the 35mm version, it was not. The Dark Horse and Rho are my two fav parts of the core. The 35mm version was my "backup" plan in case this didn't work out. Which, honestly, this version isn't perfect by any means... so I prefer the 35mm one for larger prints and such.
IDK, I'd like to give this another go with a better pano rig and more time.
Technical info - Nikon D850 - Nikkor 70-200mm lens. Shot at 70mm on a star tracker. Focus stacked foreground, as well.
LMK what one you like better! I think I got better milky way detail from the 35mm - but I was able to expose that longer than these telephoto shots. The other one was shot with a Nikon z6 and a sigma art 35mm 1.4 .

Old storage building in a farming community in Michigan holds plenty of character. I’d taken this just before @randy.wright.global posted a photo of a building of “wriggly tin” from Japan, comparing its lines to a bamboo forest. No bamboo here, but perhaps the rows of red pines.

So for those of you that don’t know I have recently created my own content and social media management company, and let’s just say it has been a struggle😂
It’s no secret that building a business is hard work, but lately it’s been extremely difficult. As a photographer in Michigan it’s very difficult to try and convince small businesses that they could use your help, especially businesses that are stuck in the old ways and really don’t understand social media. 😂
But every step of the way it’s been so much fun. I’m learning more than ever and I’m meeting and creating a lot of relationships with business owners and it’s been amazing.🤙 It’s time knuckle down and keep working💪 -
Spent my weekend camping and canoeing at one of my favorite spots on the map, off the grid! ⛺️🍻😜
👉🏼 Do you have any camping adventures planned this summer?
