our first kayak ride on our new amazing @orukayak! it was a success! I jumped in the boat and lay down like a good girl and everyone boating past thought I was awesome!!! Most importantly, much to the surprise of all the fishermen around, we did not capsize! thanks @yugenadventure for sending it before the weekend hit🙌
Final day! Then we'll fully circumnavigate this amazing piece of an island. This lagoon in more ways gave us a moment of reflection before beaching to the civilized comforts of a hot shower, cold beer and an ac.
Being in here was a reward for sure, an exclamation to a feat - 65k's, 3 days! - while enduring the summer heat paddling through the day and spending most of the nights dreaming of sleep while fanning one's self in humid tents. Stings! Dodging stings! Army of stings!
But without all this, it wouldn't be an authentic adventure right? 🛶
Countless nooks and crannies adorned this island. This one in particular, seemingly hidden yet accessible on a certain tide. The entrance is guarded by a battalion of mosquitoes you'll hear buzzing as if a hum of a motorized boat from a distance. Ants of all sizes and ants that magically appear inside your tent when you thought "it's all sealed up!!!" were the only residents we met. This was, as if the island's way of saying - Welcome! Endure! Enjoy!
Were we meant to be here? Maybe.
That's why we have to be here respecting the island's terms of us being here at this time and at this moment. You know by sharing a few bites of ourselves to the local insects. 😜 Bask in humidity! 😅 Yet leave with a filled soul. Get lost, then renewed!
There is SO much to do in Cowichan Bay! Have you checked out kayaking and whale watching? There are also small boat charter companies that will take you from Cow Bay to Genoa Bay Cafe and pick you up after you've enjoyed a meal. #spring#cowbay#whalewatching#kayaking #boating
