Sometimes it’s not the place but the people that make the place. #dontforgetyourroots but the place also holds a vibe of the experiences held within those walls. I know it’s wasn’t always pretty, it’s wasn’t always of sound mind and spirit. But love did exist here. And I will always love this place.

I think creativity is in my family Gene’s 😜. My Grandad made Welsh Love Spoons in his garden shed amongst dozens of other things. With one single piece of word the spoons have been made. The Stork in the middle is for when I was born 😊. This got me thinking 🤔. From his shed he made his own creations which ultimately received acknowledgement for their quality across Wales and the craftsmanship involved. If your product or service is made with passion it has a better chance of succeeding because you don’t mind the late nights or standing in the shed. My Mum will correct me if I have said something wrong 🤪😂😂 #grandadsshed#welshlovespoon#dontforgetyourroots

Cat’s outta of the bag.
I can count on one hand how many people in NYHC have shown ENRAGE any respect, so first and foremost, I’d like to thank @stonefilmsnyc . He requested us since the first or second show in this series and I’m glad we can work our schedules out to be part this.
What an honor to be playing this venue with so much history especially with our friends LEEWAY and this insane line up! Fantastic way to continue our upcoming 30th anniversary indeed. Like I mentioned, we are normally not deemed cool enough to play Manhattan so this is a rare thing – and hey it’s FREE !
So be loud at A7 NYHC Roots series #5 with us !
Teaching moments from my Nan to Meghan. Nan educating Meghan on Samoan music and it's significant sound⠀
This was one of the first times Meghan met Nan, when Nan was still living in the house I grew up in with many memories of Christmas mornings, Backyard Cricket, Street tar popping (long story about tar popping)⠀
Females (especially our elders) are the leaders of the family in Samoan culture.⠀
It's a collaborative effort. It's a team. So for Meghan to meet Nan is a meeting of 2 Queens. 2 strong females who lead the charge.⠀
Although my Nan is now in a rest home from her stroke. She is still the head of the entire family and this photo means so much to me.⠀
To Bill: my mentor, my “like a father”, my friend. Not only have you given me countless theatre and acting advice, but you have given me a place to call home, a family, and unconditional love I never knew was possible. I am so grateful for the opportunity I had as a young artist to grow and learn from you. You’ve taught me to be brave, to stand firmly and boldly in my truth, and leave my heart on the stage. Thank you for believing, supporting, and constantly encouraging me. I owe so much of my career to you. The difference you’ve made in my life is beyond words. It was such an honor and a privilege to have performed last night at @civictheatre in celebration of your 25th anniversary. 💕
. “all the love there ever was: I see this all in you.” .
From the bottom of my heart,
Thank you Dad.
I love you so so very much ♥️
Life Finds A Way
A trees roots are relentless, often burrowing in search of water even if that means pushing things like sidewalks or sewer pipes out of the way.
Or in this case, not being able to burrow into the stone and opting instead to scale a cliff.
This image is also a great reminder that life is extremely hard, and it's just harder for some to get what is basically handed to others. Although you've been dealt a bad hand, its not impossible to get there.
A lot of fun with my B friend @smiley_760 at @delmarfairgrounds@nodal concert 🤠🎼🎶🎶👌👌👌
**Not a jewelry post**So ever since I saw the post from @sanskarteaching about matlu (earthern pot for storing and drinking water) - I had a craving of sorts to find a matlu. Searched on amazon and these are ridiculously priced - so then I thought, that I would have to wait until my trip to India to get me a pot. But today we went to @patelbrothers in Bensalem, PA and found this beauty!!! Besides the leaky tap (which my husband thinks is fixable), the pot is amazing!! I will have to wait a couple days to actually start drinking from this - but finally found my source of pure water! Thanks Vaishali for reminding me of our roots and how I should learn to pass them onto my kids! .
One more day to go & then I fly home to California & get back to selling #vintageclothing . It’s been a great week! I ran into Luke (old client of mine & a musician who used to work at Tall Toad Music around the corner from #chickaboomvintage ) and he’s now a security guard at The Ryman! I spent the day looking for property to buy here in Nashville, dealt with flash flood warnings, monstrous rain, but still made my way to a few local favorites of mine like Mas Tacos, Dino’s, and some vintage shops. I’ve had a killer time watching friends perform on the great stages of the Opry/Ryman, hung out with Doug backstage who’s a gracious and all around great human being, have had too many interesting Uber rides to count, have run through the rain, danced in it, have sung at the top of my lungs and have made so many unbelievable new contacts that have followed my work for awhile now. It’s been an insane honor to be back in Nashville and I really can’t wait for my return in a few months. One more day to have some fun & then a 5 hour flight home. See you soon, Bay Area... ~Marissa
Growing up for me was rough
I came from a broken family, a poor family with a broken home where there was always parties, drugs, drinking, laughing then violence... I never grew up with a father in the my life, my mother took on the role of both parents & even though we didn't have much, her love was unconditional even though sometimes I'd wish she would have taken us away from certain situations
When you come from a rough upbringing you start to think that it's the normal, that this is how people live, we drink, do drugs & fight then do it all over again
Most the time when you hear about kids coming from these sorts of life styles they will follow the same path & even worse end up on jail
But I guess God had a different plan for me 🙌
I didn't do drugs, ( I tried them yeah ) but it wasn't for me, I did well in school, I basically taught myself to drive with the help of a couple friends, I got an after school job cleaning cars just to have some spending money 💰
The point of all this is, people tend to judge you on the now without even knowing where you've come from. I've learnt never to do this regardless of what others say!
I've had to hustle my ass off to get where I am today & in some ways I'm still on the hustle grind but I'm proud of myself for how far I've come. So never judge a book by it's cover, read the story first

Really stoked I got to train with Professor Renato Magno today // Renato Magno isn’t only a legend in Jiu-jitsu but is also my 1st Jiu-Jitsu instructor. He helped me a lot back when I was in college and he also gave me the opportunity to run the kids classes at Streets Sports Santa Monica when I was a blue belt before coming to @artofjiujitsu // I’m really happy I got to visit your new academy before I left to kauai. You deserve it man! Mahalo for everything Renato!!! @streetsportsbjj#dontforgetyourroots 🤙🏽❤️💛💚
