The other day a friend said “you always look happy on insta and snap.” Well, friend that is how social media works. It helps you mask the real feelings for moment. I’m not saying every smile is fake but there is a lot that I personally wrestle with that doesn’t always allow for a “real” smile. Truth be told I muddle through and put on that smile for my kids! Not for social media but for my kids.
I just read something that really hit me this morning that I wanted to share. It’s about “goal setting.” Yes, yes, you need to start setting goals, but this may shift the way you are currently thinking.
Start looking at your goals as a [Three month energy cycle]. When it comes to your future, you have three vantage points. · Your vision (your WHY) = 10-25 years' out · Your long-term goals (AKA your wild guess) = 36 months' out · Your actual goals (AKA your realistic game plan) = the next 90 days
In the 20th century, it was a solid practice to have five year goals. Things were more stable back then. Today, things are changing too abruptly to realistically determine where you'll be in five years.
Framing your goals in three month increments gives you a clear and realistic future to sprint toward. Of course, these goals are based on your longer-term goals. However, your 3-month goal cycles are your main focus.
Just like your weekly planning sessions, every three months spend a few hours or even a full day reflecting on your previous three months. Make any adjustments you need and make better plans for the next three months. 🌟

One part summer heat
A dash of cool lake water
And a glow stick twist
Our camp tipsy cocktail this summer. The Casteel boys had a blast down at the lake this year. We floated on all the floaties. We rode the giant slip and slide. They had a karaoke barge setup at kids town and Francis backed me up on the chorus for "Reeling in the Years" and danced his heart out to"Safety Dance". He got into a huge water fight that weaved it's way through kid town. There's nothing like camping with a bunch of like minded parents who embrace adventure and give their kids space to make their own fun. Thanks Uncle @billycasteel for bringing the fun. We're making Francis' childhood magical!

Everyone wants their child to be happy. There is no better practice than taking the time to teach them the art of happiness, no matter what their age.💭😊

How cool is this wall?! We don’t always get to explore the city anymore but when we do, we love taking our @uppababy Vista! We went to the @nationals game yesterday. At first, I wasn’t sure if we could take our stroller but we parked blocks away from the stadium because nearby parking garages were all full. It turned out to be just fine because you can check it in guest services. We ended up using it most of the time even in the stadium since there was a lot to do and see with our toddler (fun zone, pics w Racing Presidents, dippin’ dots, etc.)!! That basket space saved us — both kids got hooded Screech towels and other goodies we couldn’t fit in our bag. All around a win (except close game, Nats...) 🙌🏻
Saturday was the day the boys experienced the Cinema for the 1st time. I loved the original Toy Story when I was close to their age so it was fitting that their first experience was with a film franchise that I grew up with as a child myself. As you can see from their faces they absolutely loved it. •
•Film review - i really enjoyed this instalment and it wraps everything up nicely. There were some really funny bits, some being for the adults. But all in all a great film and I would give 8/10 (nothing beats the original for me)
Archer Liam Morris was born at 14.41 yesterday weighing in at a hefty 9lb.
Mummy and Daddy have had very little sleep since Saturday but Mummy has been a bloody trooper.
He's shitting like an absolute machine and we couldn't be prouder.
I'll get some pics up once he's met all of his family.
I am reminded today of the challenge fathers have when going through divorce.
Being separated from your children is never easy. Let’s face it fathers don’t leave their children, they leave the relationship that’s wasn’t working for whatever reason, or because they didn’t feel happiness or love. Maybe there was a betrayal, or a controlling wife. There are so many reasons.
This post isn’t about the fact rights and wrongs or blame, it’s about the fact that divorce is hard on men when they no longer see their children on a day to day basis and it’s about acknowledging the pain and upset that creates for all concerned.
I feel for those men, for my own ex-husband who even though he chose to leave our marriage, I know it was hard to leave our children.
If you’re a man going through divorce or are divorced and have children, this shout out is for you... remember the amazing father you are... keep that vow to stay that way despite the difficulties of divorce, despite the game playing of some ex-wives, despite the guilt you may feel... keep showing up in your children’s lives, keep a vision of being the best dad you can be... love doesn’t change, relationships do.
Getting our eat on at @chickfila. Bubba loves this place. Especially the chick-n-minis. He loves to eat the bread before the chicken. 😂
Husband wife moments are very rare when you have two kids running around your house. On the top cleaning the mess around and cooking, feeding and washing just doesn't give enough time for your partner to spend some quality time with husbands. So here we went out in the woods to have some quality time for a good couple of hours. It was worth it.
It's very important to take mum out and give her some time for herself too.So dads how often do you take her out? :)
Good morning from me and a slobbery baby kid. She was out partying all night with mom at the melting pot and apparently flirting with the waiter. He kept bringing her bananas to eat and she fell head over heels. Doesn’t take much to win over this little one.
Not too sure how you fathered such a fair-skinned, blue-eyed baby, but so glad you did @anthony.lah 😆
